he 2D/3D Transesophageal Echocardiography Course is dedicated to the use of echocardiography in cardiac surgery and is designed for cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and anesthesiologists who wish to deepen their theoretical and practical understanding of the technique.
Echocardiography plays a key role in both preoperative and intraoperative evaluation, particularly in valvular heart disease. It enables echocardiographers and cardiac surgeons to share a common language and define a coordinated strategy in valve repair procedures.
The course aims to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge through morning lectures delivered by leading national and international experts, and afternoon hands-on sessions in which participants will be actively involved in various procedures.
The sixth edition of the course includes guided practical exercises with expert tutors, structured in three phases:
- Use of the highly realistic TEE simulator (Mr TEEmothy)
- 3D Echo Workshop with GE and PHILIPS systems to explore and analyze 3D dataset post-processing
- WET LAB with LIVE ECHO: each participant will be guided through the dissection of a porcine heart, with demonstrations of echocardiographic and anatomical correlations.
