1° Workshop  Aortic Valve Neocuspidization

Aortic valve disease in young patients still represents an unresolved  clinical challenge. Current surgical options, such as replacement with  echanical or biological prostheses, present significant limitations in
terms of durability, the need for anticoagulation, and long-term quality of life.

In this context, innovative techniques such as aortic neocuspidization according to Ozaki, which involves the reconstruction of the aortic  valve with autologous pericardium treated with glutaraldehyde, are
emerging.

This method, introduced with the aim of offering a durable,  biocompatible solution without the need for anticoagulant therapy, is  gaining increasing interest, especially for younger or pediatric patients.

MIX MICS

In the evolving landscape of valvular heart disease, both percutaneous and surgical techniques now offer highly effective treatment options for aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve conditions. While surgery has long been considered the gold standard, recent advances in transcatheter approaches have created new opportunities—particularly for high-risk patients.

At the same time, cardiac surgery itself is changing: innovative, less invasive techniques are being developed to enhance recovery, reduce hospital stays, and improve overall quality of life.

MIX MICS is a multidisciplinary course designed to provide a comprehensive and practical understanding of both surgical and interventional strategies, with a strong focus on clinical decision-making and patient-centered care.

Participants will gain:

  • A structured overview of current percutaneous and surgical approaches, including indications and patient selection criteria

  • A step-by-step look at procedural techniques through lectures and live case transmissions

  • An interactive comparison of surgical versus transcatheter options in complex clinical scenarios, guided by a faculty of experienced operators

This course is intended for cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, and all professionals involved in the management of valvular heart disease who seek to deepen their expertise and collaborate within a true heart team environment.

1st ECMO Course

ECMO today represents one of the most complex and decisive frontiers in intensive care and cardiac surgery. It is a life-saving technology that demands not only technical expertise and rapid execution, but also multidisciplinary coordination and rigorous training. ECMO indications are rapidly evolving, and its safe and effective application requires a shared clinical language and vision among anesthesiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, and intensivists.

The aim of this course is to provide scientific and technical updates, as well as practical tools, standardized protocols, and opportunities for interdisciplinary discussion.

Through real clinical scenarios, interactive debates, and hands-on sessions, this program seeks to foster collaborative learning among professionals with complementary expertise. We believe that excellence in the management of critical cases depends not only on individual skill, but also on the cohesion, preparedness, and clinical synergy of the entire team.

The event has been assigned n. 11 Italian CME Credits for Physicians (Anaesthesia and Resuscitation, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health) and Cardiovascular Physiopathology and Cardiovascular Perfusion Technicians.
